About Us

History

Bagatelos Architectural Glass Systems, Inc. was established in February of 1999 in Sacramento, California. The company was founded by Nick Bagatelos, who previously ran and operated a family glazing business for 13 years, Commercial Window Systems, a multi-million dollar glass installation sub-contractor in Northern California. One year later, his brother, Chris Bagatelos joined the business as Chief Operating Officer, with operations, project management and administrative responsibilities.

The brothers entered the glazing business through a mentorship with their father Gus Bagatelos, who was an industry veteran by the time the boys had matriculated through university. Gus spent nearly 30 years working in the field and then in the estimating department for Cobbledick-Kibbe Glass Co., the 107 year old family-run business that served as the largest glass and glazing employer in Northern California. Together the family quickly established themselves as the local go-to provider in the Sacramento Area.

After 13 years in business together, an opportunity came to expand and move from smaller office buildings into larger multi-story high-rise projects. The iconic Ziggurat, a ten story, stepped pyramid office building on the Sacramento River recruited the Bagatelos Family to be the design build glazing subcontractor. Nick leapt at the opportunity to expand and formed a new Union Glazing business to support this new venture, Bagatelos Architectural Glass Systems.

Throughout the past 19 years, BAGS has established itself as one of the premier glazing sub-contractors in California. BAGS strengths lie with its remarkable staff. It is not just the years of experience that Nick and Chris Bagatelos bring to the table, but the depth of experience in the engineering and management, as well as the expertise from the shop and field team that separates BAGS from the competition.

Philosophy

BAGS goal is to be the premiere provider of glazing solutions in the State of California, by building superior quality exterior facades, safely and with integrity. As a union-based sub-contractor, BAGS designs, engineers, fabricates and installs exterior facades for complex multi-story buildings and has earned a reputation for fostering innovation and completing projects on-schedule and on-budget.

Capabilities

As a union-based sub-contractor, BAGS designs, engineers, fabricates and installs exterior facades for complex multi-story buildings and has earned a reputation for fostering innovation and completing projects on-schedule and on-budget.

The BAGS Net-Zero manufacturing plant serves as the heart of the company, allowing the team nearly 50,000 sq. ft. of interior space to fabricate, assemble and glaze. In 2017, with the continued growth of the business, BAGS decided to expand fabrication capabilities and opened a second 50,000 sq. ft. plant at Depot Park, just a few miles from the Sacramento Headquarters. BAGS now does the majority of fabrication in-house, allowing the company more flexibility, better educated project managers, enhanced QA/QC, and faster fabrication schedules. Additionally, BAGS has embraced the Lean Methodology of constant improvement and educated automation, incorporating overhead cranes, bunking systems, automated cutting equipment, and constantly redefining the flow of the workspace.
